First Look: 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid

I recently had the opportunity to spend a day driving a 2013 Ford C-MAX hybrid, one of the newest hybrid vehicles to hit the market. Ford claims that this new C-MAX hybrid achieves an impressive 47 MPG rating in both highway and city driving, and I did get the chance to put that to the test as I drove throughout Northern Colorado as part of the 2013 Green Car Convoy, an event sponsored by the Colorado Auto Dealers Association (CADA) and the CADA-backed Clear the Air Foundation, which “strives to effectively lessen the amount of pollution emitted by old or not properly maintained vehicles on Colorado’s roads.”

I’ll be posting more impressions of tyhe 2013 Ford C-MAX hybrid as bit later this week, but it’s safe to say that Ford has fielded a competitive entry in the hybrid vehicle market. I can tell you this much already: I already like the C-MAX hybrid for being a tangible manifestation of Ford’s desire to make more cars available across global markets, as the C-MAX has been available for years in the European market. It’s nice to see Ford bringing the C-MAX — along with its attractive  ‘Kinetic Design’ exterior styling — to the states. Remember when hybrid vehicles were boxy and ungainly affairs that stood out as egg-shaping vehicular oddities? The C-MAX hybrid shows that automakers are making hybrid vehicles that blend in with non-hybrid vehicles, which is a good thing in my book.
