2015 Ford Mustang Photos Surface Before Global Reveal
The biggest secrets are sometimes the hardest to keep, an axiom that is proving true for Ford as pictures and details of the new 2015 Ford Mustang continue to pop up on the web. A few days ago an early copy of the December 9th, 2013 print issue of AutoWeek magazine — complete with  cover story and photos of the 2015 Mustang — ended up in the hands of SVTPerformance.com forum member Screaming 40th, who promptly posted photos of the issue online.
Ford has scheduled a global launch event on December 5th to unveil the revamped sixth generation Mustang, which is breaking cover just a few months prior to the 50th anniversary of the original iconic pony car, which first appeared in April 1964.
According to a Ford news release, the launch event will see the new Mustang making “…its debut in six cities on four continents. The reveal events will take place in Dearborn, Mich.; New York; Los Angeles; Barcelona; Shanghai and Sydney.” You can catch the global reveal live at 13:00 – 14:00 CET (12:01 AM ET) via Ford’s ‘Go Further’ event page based on a presentation by Ford of Europe in Barcelona.
Here in North America Ford has a bunch of promotional plans in the works, including an early-morning reveal on Good Morning America and a number of events in California, outlined in a blog post over at Hot Rod. There’s also some higher-quality photos of the new vehicle over at TIME Magazine, which Ford gave early access to the new Mustang so the venerable news magazine could snap some exclusive photos and get some additional details of what Ford’s goals were for the Mustang redesign.
So what exactly can we expect with the 2015 Mustang? Here’s a quick review.
A Car for Global Markets
The Mustang is easily one of the more recognizable vehicles in the world, but Ford has reserved the Mustang mainly for North America buyers. That changes with the 2015 Mustang, which has been redesigned to meet European safety and vehicle regulations, and will be available in a right-hand drive (RHD) model for the UK, Japan, and other RHD markets. That also means dozens of other design and engineering changes that will distance the new Mustang from the existing fifth-generation model.
Lighter, Faster, and More Efficient
Part of those changes include less weight, as the new Mustang will drop roughly 200 lbs in total curb weight. The new pony car will also finally get a fully-independent rear suspension (IRS), which should give the new car improved handling over the outgoing model. Ford has indicated that the current V-6 and 5.0 liter V-8 engines will continue in the new model, and they’ll be joined by a new 4-cylinder turbo-charged EcoBoost engine, added as a more attractive option for more fuel-cost conscious European buyers.
More New, Less Retro
Arguably the most noticeable feature of the new Mustang is the all-new exterior design, which is decidedly more futuristic and less slavishly retro than the outgoing model. I personally like the new design and prefer it to the previous generation, but feel free to peruse the photos below and decide for yourself.

a mustang GT has dieffrent brakes, engine, transmission, etc. it is a dieffrent car under the hood. That’s not all though. many people buy V6s. many clueless spoiled girls are rolling around my town in V6 s right now. but the enthusiasts buy the GT models. there are tons of 6 s running around, but seeing a GT is much more rare. You don’t own one so i dont expect you to understand or appreciate it. if i pay extra for a GT i don’t want it to look like a worthless 6.
