Classic: Nicely restored 1956 Volvo 444 model K
The blog has always had a soft spot for well-restored vintage vehicles of all makes, from the exotic to the ubiquitous. Restoring a classic vehicle takes patience, dedication and love of the automotive experience, so we’ll always be happy to post some of the better samples of the auto restoration craft that come our way.
This beautiful restoration — a 1956 Volvo 444 (model K) — comes to us from a blog reader in Denmark. Dubbed “Paal Viggo” by the owner, this coupe classic features a B4B engine (1400ccm) and newly finished paint. He adds a bit more background:
“It was in pretty good shape when I bought it back in 1980, but I have thrown a lot after it doing both the engine room and full painting lately.”

Great blog Jeff. I will surley follow the Classic car section!
Thanks Tormod! I’ll definitely be adding more classic car coverage in the future.
Hope you enjoy that Volvo!
Who doesn’t love classic cars? Seems everybody does and hollywood has jumped on the bandwagon too. You see them in just about every movie and TV show now.
While searching for classic vintage cars, your post regarding Classic: Nicely restored 1956 Volvo 444 model K – Driveline Blog caught my eye. I found it very interesting. I just wanted to tell you that your site is really awesome and has fantastic content. I will be returning.
Wow! The 1956 Volvo 444 model K is a car I wouldn’t mind trading “back” to. I own and enjoy driving two 1959 Volvo PV 544 cars. Both are in decent mechanical condition, although one is a trailer queen and the other shows all 50 years of its age. I am smitten by the dash, steering wheel, split windows and the front grill of this particular model. Alas, the 444’s is not much more than a parade car due to it’s anemic engine. It would be truly cool to have an upscale drive train (say a BMW 2.5 straight 6) and have the exterior bone stock.
Anybody out there know of a chassis thta you can easily bolt a 544 or 444 body onto and make the ultimate sleeper with the best of both worlds? (Looks and performance).
Anybody want to trade a 544 for a 444 with a sound undercarriage?
Good night. have with my husband a 1956 model volvo 444 k and we can hardly get in Argentina files with technical data to achieve a restoration of the car accordingly. There is possibility to send me some. Our email is “jorgerpavon@hotmail.com”. thanks
