The Hellcat-powered Trailcat is the Jeep Wrangler your mother warned you about
Not content to leave the awe-inspiring 6.2 liter, 707-hp supercharged V8 Hellcat engine solely to the likes of Dodge Challenger and Charger drivers, Fiat-Chrysler has decided to create the Jeep Trailcat concept, a Wrangler one-off that appeared at the Easter Jeep Safari 50th Annual in Moab, Utah.
Car and Driver managed to get some audio of the monstrous Trailcat revving its engine (see below), and we’ve added some additional photos of the Trailcat — including a close-up of the 6.2 liter Hellcat powerplant — below the fold.
Here’s what Jeep had to say about the Trailcat when the concept was announced:
“Hellcat-powered off-roader capable of crawling or high-speed runs, featuring a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V8 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a custom shifter ball featuring an embossed Hellcat logo.”
The Trailcat appears likely to remain just a concept vehicle, but given that FCA has already greenlight the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, “never say never” may be wise words to live by.
