VW’s Robotic Car Garage
Having a hard time finding space to park the few dozen Porsches and Ferraris in your auto collection? Take a look at this robotic parking garage, located at a Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, Germany.
According to info over at Snopes and Inside Line, the 20-story towers that house this robotic car-fetcher are used solely to store new VW vehicles, which can be retrieved by their expectant owners after purchase.

this is sweet i live in the usa we should have this it would be so cool
I agree — this would be nice to see in person.
Looks like something out of the Jetsons…. 🙂
very cool stuff. but, this was originally an invention of my husband, such a shame he never got it patented, we would be now stinking rich :)))
@ filipha – Seriously? You and your husband should get a good lawyer.
Did you ever see the movie Flash of Genuis?

This is great it has really inspired me since i’m doing the same(computer controlled underground car park) project as a third year student here in mombasa polytechnic university college in kenya. Doing a diploma in technology electronic and computer engineering.
Best of luck with your schoolwork, Stephen. Thanks for the comment!
Whoa that is really pretty incredible, wonder how much the price tag on that one is!
when there is no more space on the land we conquere the air.. This is well optimized architectual decision.
I am not able to figure out how would this work when almost everyone come at same time to park (say in the morning) or come to take their car out (in the evening)
This is a super future garage, looks like its only for the VW factory’s, not a working customer car garage.
come to miami beach, they are building one
Without a doubt this must be the coolest car parking lot in the world right now! I must say this is not the first time i see these pics but they never cease to amaze me, it would be nice to see some displaying the outside look too, it would give a better understanding for the building’s proportions.
That’s incredible — it looks like something out of Star Wars. Looks cool, but practical, too…
