Getting automotive writers and journalists seat time in new vehicles is high on the list of every automaker when they’re rolling out new vehicle models, so events where individual automakers invite press to try out their new vehicles is commonplace. The Rocky Mountain Drive Experience (RMDE) 2016 — by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) association — takes that concept a bit further by bringing multiple automakers (and the press that cover them) to one location.
RMAP has been holding RMDE events for several years, with the last few held at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in scenic Tabernash, Colorado. This year the event is at the same location, with close to a dozen automakers, almost 40 vehicles, and more than three dozen automotive writers in attendance. Some notable new vehicles at this year’s RMDE are the new Chrysler Pacifica, the Mazda CX-9, the Fiat 124 Spider Lusso, and the Jaguar F-Pace. Some sportier vehicles in attendance include the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Ford Mustang GT, and the Chevrolet Camaro SS. The most noteworthy vehicle we’ll save for last: the all-new 2017 Acura NSX is in attendance as well.
Look for first driving impressions of many of these vehicles to get posted here over the coming days, and check out our updates on
